Advertorial

You have the power to crown gay South Africa’s choice of Mamba’s Sexiest Man of 2006 – and win great prizes!

We’re giving away R15 000 worth of prizes including Thierry Mugler fragrance hampers, Hannon Hair Care hampers, tickets to the QC Mamba party on the 10th of November and three nights accommodation for two at the luxurious Waterlilly Lodge in Betty’s Bay near Hermanus.

To vote for your Mamba Sexiest Man of 2006 from our list of finalists – and stand a chance of winning one of the great prizes on offer: Simply SMS the word “vote” + “your e-mail address” + “the first name of your favourite man” (from the list below) to the number 34130. REMEMBER: You can only vote for one of the finalists below! (SMS’s are charged at R2.)

And now, we present our selection of 12 of the sexiest – officially gay-friendly – male celebs the country has to offer. You’ll be pleased to know that all these finalists agreed to participate in our poll. (Sadly none of the sports celebrities we approached were willing to participate.)

So here they are! Get ready to drool…

Stefan Ludik

The gorgeous Stefan Ludik first came to our attention as a contestant representing Namibia in Big Brother Africa in 2003. His well chiseled body was probably the only reason we tuned in. He’s one of the few Big Brother housemates to translate his reality TV fame into a career – he now has a regular role as Werner in local soap, Egoli. Stefan describes himself as an active guy and enjoys sport like playing cricket and rugby. You’ll also be very pleased to know that he is a professional masseuse. Music is another of Stefan’s passions and he writes and sings, and also plays the guitar (he recently performed to an adoring crowd at Pretoria gay club, Legends). This multifaceted stud received his International Forensic Psychological detection of deception diploma from the American International Institute of Polygraph in 2001.

Roger Goode

Possibly the naughtiest man on our list, DJ Roger Goode would probably flirt with a street pole. Add that smooth sexy voice to his sparkling eyes and very wicked grin and you’d be hard-pressed to not go weak at the knees. Roger started his career in the music biz sitting in his bedroom, with a small computer and a keyboard, creating his own tracks. He put them on demo tapes and sent them to record labels and radio stations around the country. This led to the release of In The Beginning, which was mixed by international DJ Ferry Corsten and landed up becoming a massive dance hit around the world – at the tender age of 21. Since then he’s often deejayed at gay clubs and now presents and produces three prominent dance shows on popular radio station 5FM over weekends. Our hips don’t lie!

Loyiso

The soulful and very sexy 25 year old singer Loyiso Bala – born in the small town of Uitenhage, near Port Elizabeth – has become a musical phenomenon. At a young age he joined his musical family in performing at weddings, funerals and other gospel functions. He went on to perform on TV at the age of six, reaching the semi-finals of the Shell Road to Fame. He’s headed up the Drakensberg Boys’ Choir, has a Bachelor of Music from UNISA, has won stacks of awards and was the youngest ever conductor of the National Youth Choir. Not too shabby. He’s since become one of the most sought after R&B artists in the country, singing around the world. There’s much buzz around this protégé – and don’t be surprised to see him snapped up by an international record label soon. Loyiso’s just released an album together with his brothers Zwai and 15 year old Phelo.

Dihan

The stunning Dihan has begun to finally step out as a singer in his own right. Blessed with the voice of an angel, Dihan started performing while still at school. After matriculating he studied Bcom Tourism, (imagine that talent and those good looks wasted in a travel agency!). In 2003, he joined the boy band Hi-5 and a few years later recorded a single with Nataniël (Songbird). He also made a guest appearance in Nataniël And Friends in the Royal Albert Hall in London, as well as appearing in several TV soaps. In 2006 Dihan finally launched his solo career, but still found time to appear with Nataniël in the acclaimed show The Moses Machine. He recently released his first solo CD single, The Lava Song and is performing his first solo production, Prinz. Dihan showed his gay-friendly colours by recently performing at Legends in Pretoria.

Izak Davel

It seems that our local soaps are engaging in a vicious hunk-athon war, with Egoli clearly in the lead. Few could fail to have been impressed by the appearance of Michalangelo-model-like 22 year old Izak Davel on the show in an all too brief three month role as Louwna’s long lost son Scab. The droolable Izak describes himself as an all rounder when it comes to performing and says that he likes to be busy all the time (always a good quality). He finished his studies in 2004 and if you’re lucky you may have spotted him and his rather spectacular body in shows such as Joseph for Pieter Toerien Productions, Life @ Centre Stage with André Shwartz – also a Pieter Toerien production – and Jesus Christ Superstar at Monte Casino Theatre. We’re rather keen to see what this young stud does next, aren’t you?

Jacq Terreblanche

Jacq – formerly known as Jacques – Terre’blanche, was responsible for one of the most memorable mome
