MAMBA LAUNCHES GAY BUSINESS DIRECTORY

Advertorial

Mambaonline.com, SA’s largest gay and lesbian lifestyle website, has announced the launch of the country’s first online gay business and services directory website, Mambabiz.com.

South African web-surfers looking for a gay-owned or gay-friendly business, whether an architect, lawyer or guest-house, are finally able to search a single comprehensive – and easy-to-use – online directory.

They’ll find all the information they need by logging on to www.mambabiz.com.

Once there, visitors will be able to search for services or businesses according to category, province and city. And, it’s entirely free!

“We envisage Mambabiz.com becoming the one-stop, top-of-mind gay business directory in the country – further adding to the range of offerings in the Mamba stable,” says Mambaonline Publisher, Luiz DeBarros.

Each listing includes the business name, description, contact person, address, phone and fax number, e-mail and website links and an optional logo or mini ad. Businesses can list if they are “gay and lesbian friendly” or “gay or lesbian owned.”

Why a gay and lesbian business directory?

Despite our country’s legal protections, lesbian and gay South Africans continue to face various degrees of stigma. Thus, the idea that they can deal directly with gay-friendly suppliers and not be afraid of embarrassment or awkwardness has much appeal.

Additionally, Mambabiz.com will serve as a gay and lesbian business networking platform for those wishing to support or work with gay-friendly or gay-owned service providers. In essence, Mambabiz.com will reward businesses and service providers that are supportive of gays and lesbians.

“While there are similar print directories in the marketplace, there are no substantial local online directories of this nature,” says DeBarros, who adds that the directory will be widely promoted in the gay media.

How to get listed on Mambabiz.com

Gay-owned or gay-friendly business or services can register on the directory for a launch fee of R500 per year and will be able to access and update their details online at any time during their listing period.

The site already boasts over 100 listings at the time of launch, and will continue to expand its directory of businesses and services from around the country.

To search the directory, or to list your business, simply log on to www.mambabiz.com (or get there via the prominent links on Mambaonline.com).

Mambaonline.com (launched in 2001) and Mambagirl.com (which premiered in 2007) are South Africa’s leading gay and lesbian lifestyle brands, collectively reaching over 43 000 unique visitors a month.
