An unidentified man is flogged in Iran under Sharia law.

Nineteen young men in Sudan have been publicly flogged for wearing women’s clothing and makeup.

The men were sentenced by a Muslim Sharia court to 30 lashes and a fine of around 400 US dollars after being arrested during a police raid on a private house party last month.

According to local media in the north-eastern Africa country, the party had been thrown to celebrate a same-sex wedding.

The men were flogged on Wednesday, immediately after being sentenced, while around 200 people watched.

Reuters reported that the men had no legal representation in their trial as lawyers were too afraid to take their case.

Under Sharia law, male and female homosexuality is illegal in Sudan with punishment including the death penalty. Lesbians can be sentenced to death by stoning.
