KHUMBULANI PRIDE 2014 GALLERY

Advertorial

The Samora Machel township outside of Cape Town hosted the second Khumbulani Pride (“Remembrance Pride”) march on May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia. An after party was held at a nearby sports field.

The event aimed to not only raise community awareness about LGBT rights in the area and to celebrate sexual and gender diversity, but to also remember those who’ve been victims of hate crimes.

Participants held up banners and placards demanding equality and handed out educational pamphlets to passersby.

According to Cape Town Pride Director Matthew Van As, who is one of the organisers, around 300 people took part in the event. David Lee took these images.
