TWO AND HALF MEN’S GAY MARRIAGE TWIST REVEALED

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s studio has revealed that the two main characters, Walden (Ashton Kutcher) and Alan (Jon Cryer), will get married in a ‘fake’ gay wedding.

CBS Entertainment chairman Nina Tassler told reporters on Thursday that after Walden has a heath scare he’ll decide that he wants to adopt a child to add more meaning to his life.

“…in doing so, he starts the process and realises that it’s very difficult to adopt a child as a single, straight man,” she said. “So once and for all he decides, ‘I’m going to propose to Alan and we’re going to get married and adopt a child as a gay couple.”

The news has led some to ask how respectfully gay marriage will treated in the show’s plot.

Tassler, however, insisted that the storyline would make a “very positive statement” about same-sex marriage, which is becoming increasingly more accepted in the US.

Gay media group GLAAD said that it would wait to see the new season before judging the storyline.

“We hope the show will acknowledge not only the progress made in acceptance of gay and lesbian couples, but also the fact that — in many areas of the country — same-sex couples are often under greater scrutiny or still barred from adoption options that straight couples have,” commented GLAAD President Sarah Kate Ellis in statement.

Last year, Two and a Half Men introduced the lesbian character of Jenny (played by Amber Tamblyn).

Same-sex couples can legally marry in 19 US states, while 31 states still have laws or constitutional amendments restricting marriage to the union of one man and one woman.
