ELLEN IS AMERICAN GAY MEN’S FAVE CELEBRITY
Ellen DeGeneres (right) is well-liked by gay US men. Her wife, Portia De Rossi, not so much.
The most admired celebrity among gay American men is a lesbian woman. It’s none other than Ellen DeGeneres.
According to a survey for Variety by brand expert Jeetendr Sehdev, the talk-show host tops the list of the most respected stars among 3,000 gay 18-54-year-old male consumers.
She is joined by Angelina Jolie, Oprah Winfrey, Sandra Bullock and Johnny Depp as the most popular celebrities.
The least popular, surprisingly, includes Lady Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Hillary Clinton, Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum.
When asked only about their most favourite openly gay celebrities, DeGeneres, Jane Lynch, Rosie O’Donnell, Tim Gunn and Cynthia Nixon were given the thumbs up.
The least popular gay celebrities list could cause some marital strife; it features DeGeneres’ wife, Portia De Rossi. Other less-liked gay stars include Ricky Martin, Adam Lambert, Zachary Quinto and Lance Bass.
DeGeneres’ role as a spokesperson for the CoverGirl cosmetics company was chosen as the group’s favourite celeb-centred advertising campaign.
The results of the survey couldn’t have come at a better time for the 56-year-old television star and comedienne. She recently announced the launch of her E.D. lifestyle product line, which will include home, fashion, and pet items.
