GAY MAN MURDERED EXECUTION-STYLE BY EX-BOYFRIEND

A man is alleged to have brutally shot and run over his ex-boyfriend, despite his desperate pleas to live.

The Star Tribune reports that a witness, Josh Polos, saw Kelly Phillips and Lyle Hoffman’s car pulling into a parking lot next to Minnesota petrol station on Monday morning.

Polos, who was filling his car with petrol, said that he heard yelling in the other car, after which the two men got out the vehicle.

The driver, believed to be Hoffman, shot Phillips once, then a second time in the back as he tried to flee, and finally in the head at close range as he begged for his life.

The driver then looked directly at Polos before he got back in the car and pulled off, driving over Phillips in the process.

“It was so surreal,” said Polos. “You’d think that you’d run, but I just stood there, frozen like a deer in headlights.”

Phillips, 48, and Hoffman, 44, had been in a professional and personal relationship that spanned more than 10 years. The two broke up three years ago but until recently stayed business partners in a gay bar, despite ongoing conflicts.

Phillips, who was planning to marry his new partner in a few weeks time, had recently evicted Hoffman from a house that he owned and fired him from the bar.

He was described as a well-connected executive, business man and activist in the struggle for marriage equality.

Police are still searching for Hoffman, who remains at large.
