A forward-thinking bank is showing its support for New Zealand’s gay and lesbian community by rolling out, what it calls, GAYTMs.

ANZ Bank transformed four popular ATMS in Auckland and Wellington with colourful and flamboyant artist-commissioned designs, that even include rhinestones

According to The New Zealand Herald, the move was part of the company’s diversity programme. The bank is also sponsoring Wellington’s Out in the Park and the Auckland Pride Festival, which take place this month.

“We believe that celebrating a diverse New Zealand is not only the right thing to do but also makes good business sense given the make-up of our staff and customers,” said ANZ Chief Financial Officer Antonia Watson.

The idea came from the Australian division of ANZ Bank which introduced GAYTMs last year to coincide with the Sydney Mardi Gras.

The bank will also donate proceeds from the use of the GAYTMs by non-ANZ customers to an LGBT counselling service.

The GAYTMs will remain on display for the rest of February.

Sponsoring Pride? Launching GAYTMS? We challenge our oh-so-conservative financial institutions here in South Africa to similarly show their support for our community!
