Could Michael Sam be swapping the football field for the dance floor?

According to TMZ, the openly gay sportsman has signed on to appear in the upcoming 20th season of America’s Dancing with the Stars.

There’s no official word yet from producers, and Sam has stayed silent on the matter on social media.

TMZ expressed its concern that the athlete’s dancing gig could interfere with his football career, which remains stalled.

Despite not being signed to a team, Sam recently wrote for Sports Illustrated’s MMQB blog that he’s still determined to play professionally.

“I’ll give up the game when my legs are both broken,” he said, adding, “I’m a football player and I will keep fighting for my dream to play in the NFL.”

The 24-year-old former college sports star made history when he came out as gay in February 2014, just before the professional football selection season. He was let go from two practice squads and has since been unable to secure a position in a team.
