The Grand Finale of Mr Gay South Africa 2015 will take place on 28 March at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg, during which one man will take home the prestigious title.

The audience should be in for a treat, as the glittering ceremony is being produced and directed by internationally renowned producer Jan Malan of Umzingeli Productions.

The show will include performances by the likes of Toya Delazy and Bo Denim, as well as former Mr Gay World Chris Olwage staging his famous Black Swan Project performance.

The judges for the competition include talk show host Khanyi Mbau, publisher Reuben Van Niekerk and Managing Director of Mr Gay South Africa, Thinus Van Der Walt.

The host for the evening is the fabulous media personality Anele Mdoda.

Since the announcement of the finalists earlier this month, the 12 contestants (see them all here) have been participating in competition activities to evaluate their leadership and interpersonal skills. The programme includes a variety of challenges, as well as a social media campaign and a Finalists Week.

“The Mr Gay South Africa competition is a platform to inspire young South African men to be the best they can be, to mould the contestants into role models and to choose one aspirational man to act as an ambassador and role model for men in South Africa for a year,” said Van Der Walt.

“With the drive, ambition and determination these twelve gay men have displayed, they all deserve to win,” he added.

Van Der Walt went on to reveal that in order to enhance the impact the Mr Gay South Africa organisation, and in line with its philosophy of promoting the upliftment and socio-economic development of the country, the organisation will announce changes in the company that will be implemented this year.

“Each contestant will take on a different set of responsibilities in line with their unique strengths and location,” explained Van Der Walt. “This will be driven by the Mr Gay SA council and will become a collective effort to prove to our nation that we are able to make change.”

The winner of Mr Gay South Africa will compete in the 2015 Mr Gay World competition, which will be co-hosted by Knysna and Cape Town, this April and May.

Tickets for the Grand Finale are now on sale through Computicket. Prices range from R200 to R350 (VIP). For more information about Mr Gay SA and public events featuring the contestants ahead of the Grand Finale, visit the Facebook page.
