Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride screening
GALA in Joburg is hosting a screening of the acclaimed Beyond Gay: The Politics of Pride, followed by a panel discussion on Tuesday, 23rd June.
The event is in conjunction with the High Commission of Canada and the WITS Centre for Diversity Studies and will feature the film’s executive producer Charlie David from Canada.
The award-winning documentary examines the state of pride celebrations and protests.
From the world’s largest event in Sao Paulo to the very clandestine Moscow march, Beyond Gay takes us on a global journey and, in the process, reflects on the role of pride in the fight against homophobia and transphobia.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with local activists and David.
