Watch: Video for Sam Smith’s chart-topping Bond theme released

Advertorial

sam_sm-th_bond_theme_video_is_hereThe video for Sam Smith’s number one theme song for the new James Bond film Spectre is out.

The sweeping track, titled Writing’s on the Wall, is the first ever Bond theme to go to the top of the charts in the UK, attesting to the singer’s popularity (it’s his fourth UK number one).

The sombre ballad is also the first Bond theme sung by a British male star since Tom Jones in 1965.

The video shows the 23-year-old openly gay crooner standing in front of Union Jack-draped coffins, interspersed with clips from the upcoming movie.

Sam revealed last month that he and collaborator Jimmy Napes took just 20 minutes to write the track.

We love the classic James Bond feel that’s Sam’s brought to Writing’s on the Wall. It gets a thumbs-up from us!

Spectre will be released in SA cinemas on Friday 27 November.
