Thousands turned out for the fourth annual Pretoria Pride in Centurion on Saturday. Not only was the event a platform for LGBTI visibility and celebration, but it also made history.
Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba attended the Pride, a first for South Africa, and received the inaugural Pretoria LGBTI Pride/GaySA Radio Human Rights Award. He went on to marry three same-sex couples on stage.
Following the march through the streets (see the gallery here), revellers enjoyed music, performances and socialising. They also had the opportunity to get tested for HIV, find out more about community organisations and take part in the official launch of GaySA Radio.
