The 6th annual Cape Town LGBTI Tennis Open, taking place in September, is aiming to become part of the global LGBTI tennis circuit.
The event, which is looking for participants and sponsors, will be held from 22 to 24 September at the Pinelands Tennis Club.
As always, the tournament’s primary goal is to raise as much money as possible to donate to its current charity, in this case LGBTI organisation Triangle Project. Over the years, the LGBTI Tennis Open has donated over R50,000 to its charities.
Triangle Project is a non-profit that offers LGBTI people services in the areas of health and support (counselling, clinic and supporting survivors of violence); community engagement and empowerment; and research, advocacy and policy.
The LGBTI Tennis Open will include a charity auction, where donated luxury items will be sold to the highest bidders.
The organisers are calling for sponsors to come forward, to not only secure the tournament’s prize money but to also donate items for prizes and the auction.
“It’s our sincere hope that you’ll consider joining our cause in elevating the tournament to the biggest, most inclusive iteration of the LGBTI Tennis Open Cape Town to date,” said Co-Chair Brynmore Roberts.
“In the year to come it’s our goal to be endorsed by the GLTA (Gay and Lesbian Tennis Alliance) and have one more leg of the world wide LGBTI Tennis Tour take part in the Mother City. With your help we can achieve that goal.”
