MUSLIM LESBIAN COUPLE TO BE WED BY IMAM

Two South African lesbians from Delft, outside of Cape Town, will be married by an Imam under traditional Islamic marriage rites.

Sadia Kruger (53) and Zukayna Leonard (36) are already legally married, having tied the knot in 2007 in a civil union marriage at the department of home affairs.

The two women, who are Muslim, now plan to celebrate their fifth anniversary by getting married in a religious Islamic ceremony, reports the Daily Voice.

“It’s been my dream to get married in a midorah [gold-stitched headscarf] and I’m going to do it,” Leonard said.

The ceremony will be performed by the openly-gay Muhsin Hendricks, director of Muslim LGBT rights group The Inner Circle, who is also an Imam.

Hendricks, said to be the only Muslim cleric willing to marry same-sex couples in South Africa, has previously married seven gay and lesbian couples.

“The marriage follows the essential pillars of an Islamic marriage such as the Ijab [someone requesting] and Qabul [someone accepting] and the two witnesses,” he said.

The Inner Circle was established in 1996 as an underground social and support group to help LGBT Muslims reconcile Islam with their sexuality. In 2004 it was officially registered as a not for profit human rights organisation.

While same-sex civil marriage was legalised in South Africa in 2006, religious institutions can choose whether or not to consecrate these marriages.

This sick Iman muh SIN(much sins) forgets that this DEEN ul ISLAM was built on the blood of MARTYRS (SHAHEEDS) and mujahideen continue to give their lives in FEE sabi LILLAH for the deen of ALLAH. The audacity to use ALLAH and his PROPHETS (saw) name in vain.this imam may well remember the surah ANFAL, where those in the fire will ask ALLAH to double the punishment for those who misled them. You commen is powerful. You are correct in sayingthat some of the comments from non muslims Van Niekerk et al will never understand ISLAM. They are not muslims so their understanding will be little or nothing, yet they comment .I wonder he as a christian condones paedophiles within the catholic church and whether he is in favour of child molestation!

This is indeed a sad day when things like these gay marriages are done in the name of ISLAM.if these gays (homosexuals)want to get married do so in court you want legal recognition you got it ! Please donot. Use ISLAM in your perceived way to a ignoble act. This beautiful religion does not need to bew connected in any way whatsoever with this impure act.

ey, people should stop to do things and put forward that they are 'muslims' surely they do not know what is the meaning of that, these two lesbians are not muslims, let alone their so-called IMAM, for they do not submit to the will of ALLAH and do not follow the teachings of the prophet MUHAMMAD (SAW)..now do we call them muslims? we do not have a room for gays and lesbians in ISLAM...myb they are trying to invent their own ISLAM (ALLAH FORBID) MAY ALLAH SAVE GUIDE US FROM SUCH PEOPLE!
