MOTHER RETURNS TO SOUTH AFRICA

The legendary massive Mother parties from the late 90s are set to return to South Africa with two huge events planned for Joburg and Cape Town in December.
The parties have been confirmed for Friday, 7 December in Cape Town and Saturday, 8 December in Johannesburg – and signal the genesis of a new era for Mother, one of South Africa’s most prolific and revolutionary dance brands.
Widely renowned as the biggest live dance music brand from the 1990s, Mother produced the original large scale party-events at the height of the “rave” dance revolution, introducing “underground” EDM (electronic dance music) to the masses.
Mother was one of the catalysts triggering a renaissance in youth culture – influencing music, social attitudes, fashion, lifestyle choices and society at large.
Mother creator, producer and promoter extraordinaire, Peter White recently lifted the veil on this respected matriarch’s return to our shores: “It is with much pride and joy that I make the formal and official announcement that, after a hiatus of 11 years, the biggest and most cutting-edge dance brand in South African history is making a comeback!
"Stand by - brace yourself; ‘Mother Returns’ is happening in December, featuring a top league international DJ along with SA’s best local talent for an event produced on an unprecedented scale,” White said.
The Mother super-brand attracted crowds in excess of 20 000 people and beyond in unusual venues such as the Johannesburg Park Station, NASREC, Nu World Studios, the Electric Workshop and other iconic venues across South Africa.
The events were headlined by international superstar DJ talents such as the late Tony De Vit, Alan Thomson, Fergie, Pete Tong, Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Carl Cox, Sasha and John Digweed, amongst many others.
According to White, a host of local and international production designers, event producers, brand strategists, publicists and marketing specialists are currently collaborating to lay the foundations for the new chapter in Mother's illustrious memoirs.
Details on the international headline DJ as well as the rest of the event’s DJ and performance line-up, along with venue and ticket details, will be announced shortly.
