PORTUGUESE KILLER MODEL SAYS GOD MADE HIM DO IT
Thu, 5 July 2012A Portuguese male model will claim that he was temporarily insane and was doing God's will when he brutally killed a leading gay journalist in New York last year during a New Year's celebratory trip.
Renato Seabra (22) has confessed to murdering Carlos Castro (65) - a high profile personality in Portugal - in a suite at the InterContinental New York Times Square hotel in January 2011.
The two men got into an argument, apparently over Castro refusing to pay for an expensive shopping trip.
Seabra then allegedly bludgeoned Castro with a computer monitor, stomped on his head, castrated him and gouged out one of his eyes with a corkscrew.
After the brutal attack Seabra showered, dressed in a suit and went for a walk in the city.
“Mr. Seabra developed a manic episode and became fulminantly psychotic. He acted on his delusional ideas when he attacked and killed Mr. Castro. He did not appreciate the wrongfulness of his actions, as he was acting as a conduit for God," claims Seabra's attorney David Touger in court documents.
Although Seabra's family have insisted he is not gay, he had reportedly been in a relationship with Castro for some months before the attack.
According to a psychiatrist and a psychologist hired by Seabra's legal team, Seabra suffered a “Bipolar I Disorder, Single Manic Episode, Severe with Psychotic features”.
The second-degree murder trial is expected to start in September. If found guilty, Seabra faces a minimum of 25 years in jail.
