CAPE TOWN’S COBERN STREET FAIR
Mon, 9 July 2012
For the first time on the African continent a pansexual street fair will take place in Cape Town on Saturday 28 July. The Cobern Street Fair is inspired by the very popular and well attended event in San Francisco (and now in Europe), the Folsom Street Fair.
The event started in 1984 and is California's third largest spectator event and the world's largest leather event and showcase for BDSM (bondage and discipline, sadism and masochism) products and culture.
It has grown as a non-profit charity and local and national non-profit organisations benefit. All donations at the gates as well as money raised through fundraising schemes within the festival, including games, beverage booths and even spanking for donations (capitalising on the adult-themed exhibitionism), go to charity groups.
Cobern Street, situated in de Waterkant in Cape Town, will be transformed into an all day street fair, starting at 11 a.m. with a pet walk and dog show. There will ne entertainment throughout the day, with various stalls, from art and collectables to leather and toys. You can also expect a pleasure tent.
SA Leathermen will be launching the next Mr. SA Leather 2012 competition at the event and live entertainment and DJs will take the crowd partying into the night.
Calling all leathermen, leatherwomen, bears, muscle men, gay men and ladies, drag, camo, uniforms, boots… whatever you’re into, the Cobern Street Fair is sure to be a memorable experience. Entry is R30 per person.

Big thumbs up to the organisers for putting in so much effort. In my opinion a better turn out than I would have thought. It can only get better year after year. Looking forward to the next!
>>Just a thought - perhaps next year a different date. The cold puts a bit of a dampener on the occasion.
