UP-AND-COMING ACTOR COMES OUT
Thu, 16 August 2012Nineteen-year-old American actor Ezra Miller, best known for his role in the acclaimed 2011 film We Need to Talk about Kevin, has come out as proudly gay.
In the film, he impressed audiences by playing the titular Kevin, the disturbed son of the character played by Tilda Swinton.
Miller next stars in the teen drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower in which he takes on the role of a gay high school student.
In the latest issue of OUT magazine, Miller spoke openly about his own sexuality and experiences. ďIím queer,Ē he said.
ďI have a lot of really wonderful friends who are of very different sexes and genders. I am very much in love with no one in particular. Iíve been trying to figure out relationships, you know? I donít know if itís responsible for kids of my age to be so aggressively pursuing monogamous binds, because I donít think weíre ready for them," Miller said.
He went on to say: "The romanticism within our culture dictates that thatís what youíre supposed to be looking for. Then [when] we find what we think is love - even if it is love - we do not yet have the tools.
"I do feel that itís possible to be at this age unintentionally hurtful, just by being irresponsible - which is fine. Iím super down with being irresponsible. Iím just trying to make sure my lack of responsibility no longer hurts people. Thatís where Iím at in the boyfriend/girlfriend/zefriend type of question,Ē he said.
