TROOPS GO NAKED TO SUPPORT PRINCE HARRY
Tue, 28 August 2012
Soldiers, and wannabe soldiers, around the world have posted pictures of themselves saluting in the buff to a tongue-in-cheek Facebook group in support of Prince Harry.
The group, titled "Support Prince Harry with a naked salute!", was created following the scandal in which naked cell phone photos of Harry at a strip billiards party in a Las Vegas hotel room were splashed across the internet.
The group has already garnered over 22,000 members since it was started on August 24, the day after the Prince's pictures went public.
"Please cover your crown jewels, tag yourself in your photo as proof of your support to the nation's favourite Royal," reads the group's description.
The group was started by former British Army soldier Jordan Wylie and was originally targeted at members of the British Armed Forces.
Soldiers and supporters from countries such as Brazil, Israel, Italy and the Netherlands have since also submitted their own photos, some in large groups and many holding military weapons.
"This group was started after a few serving and ex military lads started posting naked salutes to each other in support of Prince Harry," said Wylie on the salute4harry.co.uk website.
He said that he expected around 75 people at the most to join but it soon became the fastest growing Facebook group page.
The group also became the subject of the trending hashtag on twitter #Salute4Harry!
