ROMNEY'S WIFE LOVES MODERN FAMILY
Wed, 29 August 2012

In an interview with The Insider, Ann Romney, wife of the Republican candidate for the White House in the upcoming elections, said that she was a fan of the hit show, which features a committed gay couple, Cam and Mitch, and their family.
Her husband’s election platform, however, is opposed to same-sex marriage rights, leading Modern Family co-creator Steve Levitan to snap back on Twitter.
"Thrilled Ann Romney says ModFam is her favorite show," said Levitan, adding: "We'll offer her the role of officiant at Mitch & Cam's wedding. As soon as it's legal."
On Tuesday, during her speech at the Republican National Convention, Anne Romney asserted that she and her husband have a "real marriage," a comment that some took as a jab at the LGBT community.
Romney's election website also makes the presidential hopeful’s position on marriage equality clear.
"Marriage is more than a personally rewarding social custom. It is also critical for the well-being of a civilization. That is why it is so important to preserve traditional marriage -- the joining together of one man and one woman," reads the manifesto.
"As president, Mitt will not only appoint an Attorney General who will defend the Defense of Marriage Act -- a bipartisan law passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton -- but he will also champion a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman."
