PARIS HILTON BEGS FORGIVENESS FROM GAY COMMUNITY

The 31-year-old socialite was recorded by a taxi cab driver in New York City telling a friend, a gay male model, that gay men were "disgusting" for being promiscuous and were all likely to die of AIDS.
On Thursday, Hilton released an apology through the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD):
"As anyone close to me knows, I always have been and always will be a huge supporter of the gay community. I am so sorry and so upset that I caused pain to my gay friends, fans and their families with the comments heard this morning.
"I was having this private conversation with a friend of mine who is gay and our conversation was in no way towards the entire gay community. It is the last thing that I would ever want to do and I cannot put into words how much I wish I could take back every word.
"HIV/AIDS can hurt anyone, gay and straight, men and women. It's something I take very seriously and should not have been thrown around in conversation.
"Gay people are the strongest and most inspiring people I know. It is so wrong when people bully or put down others for being gay. No one should have to go through that. Again, I am so sorry from the bottom of my heart and I feel absolutely horrible. I hope that everyone can accept my apology and know that it is not who I am or how I feel in any way.
"Thank you for taking a minute to read this, I love you."
GLAAD commented that "Paris is right that HIV/AIDS can affect anyone. Over thirty years into the AIDS epidemic, better education around HIV/AIDS is still needed by much of the public and the media".

I'm surprised that Paris "penicillin" Hilton has the nerve to be predicting anyone's death via an STD. Wasn't she the rich bitch who got famous for getting herpies and making Celebritiy sex tapes a norm in modern society? Oh yes we remember "A Night In Paris". I liken her shithead apology to those racist ppl who say "I'm not racist... I have black collueges". Anyone who can defend this two-faced sqankurella is as self hating as homophobe pastors

@ Ballard - I agree that you are so right in what you say. For me, it's quite sobering how many people "love gays" (Why?) and then diss them and show prejudice. @Pitso, it doesn't matter that she was talking to a (your words) homo. For the record, AIDS (in SA) is largely heterosexually transmitted. In fact, in the whole of Africa.... @ yogi_bear Yes, Paris lives down to all expectations. Let's trash a group then ask forgiveness, saying we love them. Paris Hilton, I don't love you at all - stick your love for some of us ....

Like so many of the "some of my best friends are gay" crowd, Paris has lived down to my expectations.

Just give her a brake already, it was private conversation with a homo, and it is true what she is saying, Most gays sexual habits, zre disgusting, and we are the Orientation dying of AIDS mostly.

I think that's a sad and unfortunate thing to say. If that is what you aspire to be, as society has labelled you, then that is exactly what you will be, a slut/whore with AIDS. Believe it or not, many of us choose to remain in committed, monogamous and safe relationships. Leading a sordid lifestyle is a choice, not the definition of being gay. Teaching people who are coming out into the gay world,especially the youth, that sleeping around with a random guy every other night of the week, contracting AIDS and doing drugs is what being gay is all about, well, it's just plain WRONG and sad.

Appreciate the apology, but unfortunately I think it has exposed her underlying true and igonorant ideas about the gay community and AIDS in general, a view shared by a lot more than just her. People like her, (the "I love gay people!" types) are constantly re-inventing themselves in the eyes of others, exercising heaps of "liberal goodwill", but catch them at the right moment and the truth comes out.
