DID MATT BOMER LOSE SUPERMAN ROLE BECAUSE HE'S GAY?

Author Jackie Collins has claimed that hunky, openly gay actor Matt Bomer was not considered for the role of Superman because of his sexuality.
In an interview with Gaydar Radio to promote her new book The Power Trip, Collins revealed that "Matt Bomer… was actually up for the role of Superman. He hadn’t come out of the closet yet, but people in the know knew back then that he was gay.
"His audition tape went in and he called up the agent. Someone didn’t like him and told them he was gay. They said, 'No, no, we can’t cast you'.
"I think it should change but there are women out there who want to worship somebody. If Justin Bieber said he was gay, he’d lose all his little girl fans.
"It’s a sad fact of life. So a lot of them get married, have a couple of kids and pretend to be straight,” added Collins.
According to Examiner.com, Collins was not referring to the new Superman movie Man of Steel, starring Henry Cavill, that is set to be released next year, but another planned film Superman: Flyboy, which never got off the ground.
In August, Bret Easton Ellis (who is himself bisexual), slammed rumours that Bomer was in line to play the character of Christian Grey in the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey.
"Okay I'll say it. Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game," tweeted Ellis, who has a reputation for making controversial comments.
Bomer stars in the TV series White Collar and recently played a stripper in the hit film Magic Mike. The Texas-born star is in a relationship with Simon Halls, with whom he is raising three children.
Bomer came out in February when he thanked Halls and their family when receiving an award for his work in the field of HIV and AIDS activism.
