Late last year OIA brought the festival to the Berea centre. Although the ticket prices were great if not free for some shows, the turn out was disappointing. I personally felt that the Durbanites had no excuse not to support the event. They are too quick to bitch about “nothing coming to Durban yet when it does they don’t support it! This year I was fortunate enough to be here in JHB for the festival and what a pleasure it has been. It was well supported and well attended. Hyde Park must really have appreciated the value of the “Pink Rand” as well as the Girls were out in force, not only at the restaurants but shopping as well. This is proof that we have the financial might and have to be taken seriously too. Well done to the OIA team and looking forward to the second festival later in the year.
*Durbanites please, if the festival does come to Durban at some point, ATTEND!

Come on guys… it was much better at Rosebank. I felt at home there. Hyde Park has a lot of people watching the normal commercial films while at Rosebank the audience is used to alternate films. OIA is not a product of Ster Kinekor, so why should they only be at Ster Kinekor’s Cinema Nouveau at Rosebank? Surely if OIA can negotiate a better deal with another service provider, why should they not?
