I must commend Mambaonline for articles like this that speaks to us and hopefully starts a conversation. I’m proud to be a South African citizen because my countrys’ constitution makes provision for me and that says I’m part of this society. On the other hand when it comes down to everyday society I think we still have somewhat a long way to go to not only tolerate but accept people for who they and their meaninful contributions to this country.
This article makes think of many ads on several websites requesting for more info on where to find gay friendly medical services. This made me realize how scarce this information is and how great the demand is for medical providers. I believe this stems from the disservice this most homosexual people recieve whenever they approach a medical institution. They are always made to feel less than enough and therefore irresponsible even though certain conditions are truly ineveitable by nature and are common irrespective of sexual activities one choses to engage in.
I think it’s time that a database of gay friendly medical providers is developed and accesible to the gay public. Again this requires that we work together for ourselves, by us, from us. We have all kinds of medical proffessionals in our community, let’s support them and let them make their location of practices gay public knwoledge. Maybe Mambaonline can provide a platform for this database develpment process? Something to think a about.
