I’m confused. Mike, I’m confused. How can you complain that Therapy is aimed at a certain demographic and plays certain music. That’s WHAT THERAPY IS! It’s like complaining that a lion doesn’t look like an elephant. What did you expect from Therapy? A jazz evening? A classical recital? A hip hop bash? Am I missing something. For my money I got exactly what I expected and hoped for. You could argue that there isn’t enough variety in the gay scene (and I’d agree with you), but that’s not Therapy’s fault. And god, do try keep it brief. We don’t all have time to read a novel…

The Same Old…. Friday night came, and me, and two of my friends were out on the town. We went to variours places, in Rosebank, Norwood, Melville and Carfax… Although we were in the car more than in one club… However we decided to venture to Therepy. Need i say more… it was an adventure finding the place…. Who the hell knows that area? (im from Sandton, so that was like a whole different city) However I decided i needed to go, so that i could support dear Tamara Gay – i mean Dey. So after clubbing at all the straight clubs, because i like R&B, HIP HOP and FUNKY HOUSE, we decided to try find our way to Oxford road, (which was not in rosebank-to be clear) after nearly 40 minutes in the car, and stopping off at 3 BP garages, THANK GOD for Wild Bean Cafe, we found the place. An old factory of sorts, with parking, but no car gaurds. Lucky we found a parking in the parking lot, outside the enterance. On arrival, i was petrified, the car park was filled with GAYS. Stereotypical GAYS. Skinny B#TCHES with their FAKE D&G jeans and designer labels. Then when we got to the door, i was a bit confused cause i thought this was THEREPY DELUXE not “security search me DELUXE.” But i did not mind him touching me with his big, dirtty hands… (not) I then heard one of the body gaurds calling out BEYONCE, and i nearly fell over, OMG! i thought BEYONCE was there, but no she was not, it turned out the one bouncers names was Beyonce, which made me think what the other guys name could have been, KYLIE or CHRISTINA or MADONNA? Then i was in a complete state of confussion on why the one security gaurd, lets say Madonna, searched me, whilst CHRISTINA and LIL KIM at the top of the stairs wanted me to be searched again. And to make it worse body gaurds WHITNEY and BRITNEY made me enter the club in this cheap attempt of a post office door. Did they think the gays were gonnna rob the place with our lip gloss and pringle purses? However, at this point i was nearly star struck, because i saw TAMARA, (the actual TAMARA, not the gentleman from the CONGO) But on entery of the club, i was disgusted, it looked like some club in PRETORIA or East Rand, and the 2 door whores? (they must have been onschool holiday) And the music… I missed TAMARA perform, but by the looks of the pictures she looked good as usual. BUT THE MUSIC, the same old dededede… (rave/dance/techno) when are we gonna try listen to something new? when are we gonna have a jazz gay party? or a hip hop gay party? or a kwaito gay party. It just seems that these partys are always aimed at a certain demographic… And its a far drive for them to get back to Kempton Park and Florida. And how can onE possibly mEEt a man at thEsE EvEnts whEn thEy arE all on EEEEE?
I just thought it was the same old… whoever organized it, has realised that they have something that works and they just gonna stick to it, and drain us from our cash.
I would like to propose to the organizers of this event, to try something new… something fresh… something for young gay south africans.
PLEASE! (i am not hating what you are doing, and i congratulate you on you effoerts, but nothing will compare to the ORIGINAL Therepy…)
