GAY MEN STILL EXCLUDED FROM HIV PROGRAMMES. 3 years ago I was sexually assaulted and went to the nearest provincial hospital that has the facilities and the antiretroviral drugs. I was told that they only give it to woman who has been sexually assaulted and I dont qualify for the drugs. Being too afraid and ashamed to go to the police and my doctor not being on duty that time of the Friday or on weekends I waited till the Monday morning to go the our company sister that refered me immediately to the company doctor at the companies expense. Tried a few pharmaies to hear if I needed a doctors prescription. It was hell that weekend and I counted the minutes as they go by. Luckily I got the drugs before the 72 hour time limit was over. If companies can recognise the threat, why can our governments not. They have been voted into power to protect our interest and livelihood.
