Huh?. Surely they could”ve come up with a better memorial befitting of the (gay) men and women who lost their lives in the war. On the bright side, at least they are being acknowledged for their brave efforts.

point at hand please. Are you two insane! What do you want, a life sized reproduction of 300?! This memorial is demure and in keeping with the brevity of its subject. And besides, here is an article about a memorial being defaced and you comment on the price tag and the design. Let”s stick to the point here.

As for what I think about what happened, it was probably some drunk hooligans who didn”t even know what it was for. Fix it and let it go. If you make a fuss, people with serious intent will be at it next.

I acknowledged the fact that at least there is a memorial, which many cities would not do. In my opinion it could”ve been more resprensentative of the gay and lesbian community than a video hidden in a concrete block of two men kissing. IMO, I don”t see how that is supposed to immortalise those who died? There is more to being gay and lesbian than just one”s sexuality. I seriously doubt that while those brave men and women were being killed in the concentration camps or fighting in the war they were thinking of kissing or sex. They were thinking about survival!!

No-one disagrees that the vandalisation of the memorial was a cowardly act, and I whole heartedly agree with the mayor”s statement. And it”s true, if you make a fuss of it then people will do it again to get the attention but it shouldn”t be forgotten, just like those men and women who faught and died in a war that gives us the freedom to live how we choose. That”s the real point!!
