His declaration that he doesn’t support gay MARRIAGE while supporting gay UNIONS (with appropriate and equal rights) doesn’t make him a bigot. One should question what his understanding of “marriage” is before condemning the man outright. Perhaps it is linked to a religious view? And if so, he is entitled to his opinion – just as we gays insist on being entitled to ours.
“He has also publicly opposed federal or state constitutional amendments to limit same-sex marriage.” Surely that indicates his attitude clearly enough?
If he said he didn’t support Catholics but recognised they were entitled to the same rights as Protestants, (such an outdated term in my opinion)we’d have some gay Catholics up in arms I suppose…
I just don’t get it… Why do some gays ALWAYS have to make a song and dance about everything? The man has CLEARLY come out in support of gay rights, and like a real man, has also nailed his colours or opinions to the mast without removing gay rights! Is it HIS fault that CITIZENS (not him) of Arizona and Florida voted to bar same sex marriage??
