My family are still active in the Mormon Church, but I chose to abandon (the) religion along time ago. I find it disgusting that the Church involved itself in actively convincing its members and non-members to vote against equality for all. The Mormon church (like all other major religions) thrives on campaigning for fear, intolerance and prejudice. After all, it’s what religion is based on. I’m glad I realized it before I, too, was brainwashed into believe its ideals and forced to live a life based on persecuting others who are different (ranging from different religions to sexuality). Yes, my family are upset, but removing the wool over my eyes knitted by the leaders of the church was the best thing I’ve ever done. I wish my family would do the same.

I was planning a trip to the US but after witnessing the inequality still present in a land which preaches “freedom and equality for all” I’d rather spend my tourist euros elsewhere!
