Sick?. Firstly, it is indeed mind boggling that these vehicles can be considered value for money with their list prices in excess of R700k each. However, if you read carefully you will notice neither of them were labelled ‘value for money’ – not once. If you were a motoring entusiast and could appreciate what these vehicles can do, you would also know that the author’s choice of words – ‘worth every penny’ – doesn’t relate to value for money at all. Paying that much for a car might be blasphemy to you, but that doesn’t mean it relates to a skew view of reality. For many, this is reality.

Secondly, be careful when generalising about who and what is fucking the planet… The X6 has an average CO2-emissions figure of 283g/km, with the Q7 on 348g/km. Then take into consideration that in a month like September, Audi sold 34 Q7s (not necessarily the model in the article) and BMW 37 X6’s (also not necessarily the model in the article). On an average daily commute of 40km, those combined owners released an estimated 892.12kg of CO2 into the air.

Now, also in September, Volkswagen sold 2 317 Polos. With an average CO2 emissions figure of 196g/km over that same 40km average daily commute, the Polo owners released 18 165.28 kg of CO2 into the air. The 1 756 Toyota Yaris owners released 11 308.64kg into the air, and the 1 222 Volswagen Citi owners 10 362.56kg.

Owners of big, luxury, super powerful and super fast SUVs may be fucking society by flaunting what they have, but get real – it’s those who live in your so-called “reality” that’s really fucking the earth.

SUVs deliver a fuck your planet attitude complete with leather interior. 1 to 1, the Yaris’s and Polo’s tend to transport exactly the same amount of people as those overgrown, armour-plated dildo-esque pomposities that are the Q7’s and X6’s of this world.

But what is possibly the most surprising is that Q7 and X6 drivers know what driving those cars do and mean and that they still drive them.

Well, if it’s not really about an eco-consciousness, I’d rather drive a Q7 or an X6. Fuck society, never mind the planet!
