Well said. Chev's attempt to barge into the C-segment has been overly brash, and totally disappointing with this one. The Cruze lacks looks, power, and refinement when compared it's competitors. e.g. Pull it next to the new Kia Cerato and you'll see what I mean:

For R6000 LESS you get more features and better refinement pulled along by a far more willing 91kW CVVT engine instead.

Not to mention that you won't be stranded in the Kia one day with it displaying "Error 83/84" on the screen like this Cruze does.

Rather get the far superior Honda Civic, or the Kia if you're on a tight budget.

oh em gee. USD25,000 FOR A DAEWOO?

this is why i will never buy a car in this country. [if this means i have to pay twice as much for accommodation and live in cape town, so be it.]

i can't believe that someone actually wrote a review like this and then goes on to say that USD25,000 for such a creature is well-priced. [in america, you can get a starter beemer for not much more than this.]

Cruze. Two things:
– This is not America and cars do not cost the same or close to what they do in the States or the UK for that matter. In the local context, compared to its direct rivals, the Cruze is well-priced.
– This is not a Daewoo – the Cruze is a Chevrolet through and through, one of their very few “world cars”. That it may had some of its origins in Korea is debatable, but to call it a Daewoo is not fair, nevermind true.

In reply to joao. re: joao. 1. As Christo so rightly pointed out, cars are nowhere NEAR as cheap in SA as they are overseas. It's a fact, so there's really no use in comparing our prices with the US.

2. Again, like Christo said, the Cruze IS well-priced in the local market and against its class competitors.

3. Regarding your post's title - please note the Cruze is NOT a Daewoo. It is a through-and-through Chevrolet. My ties to Daewoo in my article were there to illustrate my point and (note please) opinion that the Chevy Cruze FEELS like their older cars, which were Daewoos, and that's what disappoints me in this car. "New Chevy, Old Tricks?"
