Movie. This is not an exceptional movie. I found it predicable, it is neither the movie of the year and very far from being the movie of the decade.

i see you…. i love reading reviews where the author says with such conviction that the film failed to be original….and three lines later says u have never seen anything like it! ha ha ha….

dont believe people who cant see the wood for the tree’s… avatar is the most original film and will be cinimatic history that will be talked about for decades to come…

critique of critique. Some may think there always has to be some snotty gay man intent on denigrating someone else.
No doubt my comments may reflect a bit of that, but in truth, as a past student of drama and film, which included training in 'critiquing' productions, I understand that opinions are subjective but also that the critique ought to be substantiated and not reliant on opinion only. I am also hugely interested in communication and so I read this critique because I hadn't seen the film and was intrigued by another interpretation following the hype..

I was immediately put off by the comment "I despised its emotional manipulation and trite love story" (referring to the multi award generating blockbuster Titanic). How a portrayal of such human tragedy could NOT be emotional (did it need that much manipulation?) is beyond me.. and I suppose this set the tone for the Avatar critique.. "a trite love story?" When is a love story not trite?

"raped by hollywood trickery"??? Does Avatar not indulge in special effects? 3D isn't trickery???

"The promise of originally (sic)" ??? I didn't grasp the necessity of originality given that the movie is a counterfoil to reality..

Death kneel? er.. knell.. as in bell, tolling...

I felt manipulated by opinion and gleaned relatively little from the review that told me what sets the film apart.
I was taught that the average film-goer is visually illiterate because many 'enjoy a movie' but seldom can say just why..

WHY is 3D the ideal medium for this film?
Is the film "unique and wholly original" or isn't it? The intergration of 'real actors and computer generated worlds and characters' has been done before. Is this "ground breaking"?

Somebody tell me what makes this film worthwhile... or not.. please?

OMG! You've got to see this!. I watched it yesterday on Imax. The experience was amazing. I can't stop thinking about it ot talking about it.

The pure imagination that went into this movie is astounding. And the graphics are spectacular!

You HAVE to watch this on big screen.

I can;t wait for the DVD. It has to join my collection.
Ooooh, and the Wii game should be out soon. Oh boy!
