I met Patrick when I lived in Hillbrow and through Patrick started to work bar at Mandy's on Saturday nights after working all day at Checkers killarney Mall. We became good friends and enjoyed many film nights with Neil and the gang as well as the big screen showings. Patrick had a kind heart and a great laugh and I will always remember him fondly. I lost touch with him on my retirn to Scotland in 1984 but have never forgotten him and his music and mixes. Great nights dancing to the latest disco sounds. thank you for touching my life, love you x

I recall dancing on the 'Box' at Anaconda (1975?); being given a brusing by Patrick while doing the Bump, and he unZipped my dress alllll they way down and it dropped to the floor. I stood there agape! I then demanded he zip me up and I stalked off, but why was he still following me even then, chortling away? He'd got his finger caught in my zip, our naughty Patrick *smiley*. Sheesh . . .Good Times were had by all. Very Precious.

Sharon. I always remember, how during my days of clubbing at Therapy in the late 90s when Sharon Bone would pop in and out of my life - a quiet observer who to me was a mound of wisdom, wit and grace - I'd catch her watching me from across the bar outside the main dance-floor room. She'd smile, and we'd love on. For many years, she had me captivated from the word go. The last time I saw her was performing at an avant garde art exhibition/ debut of sorts in Troyeville, in a backyard of an artist's house - she looked terrible - sad and lonely, but managed to smile, and that for some reason made me feel really good. Perhaps I reminded her of some good times. I don't know. RIP Sharon Bone - you will always hold a special place in my memory. Thanks for the beautifully written article, Adam.

In reply to <a href="https://www.mambaonline.com/2011/03/23/the-cracks-in-the-pavement/#comment-11782">Ian</a>.

Patrick. This article is so true. In the 90's I managed a video store in Hillbrow, and Patrick was my best customer. He was sweet, kind and an angel. Always smiling, taking time to chat. Patrick, you are an icon, and I for one will never forget you. You made a young, frightened gay boy from Durban feel very at ease in what was a new frightening environment. His "status" in the club scene then did not affect his ego, and he always took time to acknowledge and greet me. This did wonders for my self esteem, in a time when the gay scene was at its most superficial. YOU WILL BE MISSED! May you be surrounded by great music, have an endless supply of awesome movies, and a fabulous supply of "gorgeous frocks and divine wigs (his favourite words!).
