More of this attitude please. Homophobes abound. That’s the reality of life. We all have our differences and are in some respect entitled to them. While the ACDP may not see my vote, when Meshoe says “I would say, ‘I love you as a person, but I disagree with (your sexual orientation). The fact that we disagree on this one point should not make you stop me from giving you good service (as a public representative).’” can only command respect and this is the sort of attitude we need to see more from from those that choose not to see eye to eye with “us”. With an attitude like that of Meshoe’s, there’d be no such thing as corrective rape.

no. I’m afraid I disagree with you. This is not a respectable notion in the fashion of ‘hate the sin, love the sinner’. He does not have the mental capacity to do that. It is however a desperate plea from a waning politician, saying ‘yes that’s right, vote for me, but don’t expect any loyalty in return. Give me your votes, and I’ll take your rights away’. The gay community did not get said rights by voting randomly and hoping for the best. We should NEVER get comfortable enough to fall for crap like this, and hope that our lives will remain the same. Albeit local government elections, I say let us not take that chance.

In reply to GoneIn60Secs. While I agree with you that this attitude is commendable, the actions of the ACDP show how empty his promises are. Maybe the ACDP would be able to build toilets (thankfully we'll never know) but it will not serve the gay community.

On a side note, even if they didn't want gay voters voting for them, they couldn't stop us. It's a little presumptuous of him "welcoming" gay votes.
