Ek dink nie ons moet ons laat vererg oor wat hulle van gays dink nie. Hierdie peiling is so gesaghebbend soos ‘n skaap wat vir ‘n wolf vra wat soek hy vir aandete.

This headline is terribly misleading, being against gay relationships and having churches accept them are two different things. What’s more is the wording in the question implies that if you say yes, you agree that churches should be forced to accept gay marriage.

Thankfully Beeld does not truelly reflect what the whole country feels, but it does open an intresting debate… maybe instead of crying homophobia in every corner. we gotta approach this better or we will be over sensitve little bitches forever

I think it is unfair and very undemocratic to force a religious denomination not only to accept, but to practise something that they believe is wrong. I thought the separation of Church and State was something most societies strived for. It now appears that gays are pulling all the strings they can to get Government to impose their (LGBTI) minority beliefs on the Church. I can understand why many of these voters – who would normally be quite tolerant of the “gay lifestyle” – become very angry when they see gays trying to mess with religious laws which, they believe, come directly from God.
We do not need anything more than civil marriage, in my opinion.

Who is this a surprise to?

I always knew that if our rights or even freedom was put up to popular vote, we would be totally screwed!

This is the positive part to the USAs current equal rights drama, at least they are earning the favourable opinions by the public through the struggle.
