I bought a Hyundai Elantra 1.8 GLS Auto in 1988…when everyone, who was a sheep and a conventional brand enthusist, warned vehmently against the then mainly unproved Hyundai brand. I still have that vehicle…and it is still brilliant! How can this latest evolution of a fantastic value for money vehicle NOT win the title…simply put, Hyundia sets the tone that others attempt to emulate!

I love the Elantra because, like the other models and singing to the tune of “Never on a Sunday”, :-

‘you can drive them anywhere on a Sunday, a Monday, a Hyundai or any day at all’

I own the 2005 Elantra with 186,000 km on the clock. Still very efficient on fuel, only problem so far, just recently, the radiator top head(Plasic) cracked causing overheating, results, blown cylinder head gasket. Total repair cost was just over R5000 total, not bad!
As a pensioner, cannot afford a new car, pity, as I would love to get this model Elantra.

sounds good. Not driven it, though…does SEE a little staid, but I guess most of the cars in this calss are not supposed/able to be, “exciting.”

In reply to Keith Kelly. Hi Keith. I have to agree with you. Especially these days, Hyundai is at the forefront. After witnessing their cunstruction processes and R&D at arm's length in Korea in January, I was absolutely blown away! Guess we will find out tomorrow night!

In reply to James. That's where the Elantra at least brings a little excitement to the table. In comparison to this, the Jetta is too plain and boring. The Elantra might not be as involving to drive as a MINI for example, but it's not yawning material either.
