It was similar for me. Except the SMS part. My dad came to me and asked. It would have been so amazing if we felt free and safe to come out in high school, but sadly, back then there was still some homophobia.

But… we are here, and fabulous, and that’s all that matters 🙂

It’s not easy to “COME out of that closet” because you are scared for all the so called DRAMA… but this is also a test at the same time to see if your friends(who u choose to tell) react in a bad way which means they are not true friends and if ur family turns their back on you because YOUR self happiness is more important to you… Thats why you need to be open about if the sooner to make time for the family through the acceptance period! i have met alot of ppl when they needed to tell the parents because they were so scared… My question to parents at such a time is – DO YOU want to loose your blood and the son/daughter you loved as a child…. or would you be happy to allow your child to commit suicide than to accept and love them as the person they are happy to be…..
