Karen De Bruyn, the officer who married us was the nicest person – she even told us that she has no problems marrying us…and still we haven’t received any form of apology from the department for their blatant discrimination in the first place.
Nevermind though, because we got our day…we were married just like any hetero-couple…as it should be. We achieved what we set out to do, and opened the way for other gay couples.
