Meh. I say the organisers should just give up. I've attended all the pre and post events as well as pride itself, and have been keeping an eye on everything that happened. The negativity and thanklessness in the community has been astounding. Everybody seems to believe they can do pride better their own way. Very well I say, Go ahead and do it. And whoever does it, don't expect much help from the gays too. They will suddenly be conveniently out of sight, and probably crucify you afterwards too for not doing a good enough job. I will never risk getting involved in any community movements because of the shoddy support I saw the last month. I will continue to support anyone brave enough to try, but I won't expose myself in the same way to such general doubt and derision.

I am with Greg with regards to the organizers of this year's pride providing misinformation in media statements. But that being said, I also agree with Greg that I wish them well for next year's Pride. This year I boycotted the Pride events that took place mainly due to the fiasco, bickering and general unpleasantness that were created during the run up to these events. I hope that lessons were learned this year (both positive and negative) and that they can build on this and improve for next year. Also, I hope that during the 2014 Pride season organizers can see and appreciate the benefit of cooperation and unity within in the LGBT community rather than dividing us.

What strikes me the most about this new committee is that virtually everything that is stated by Kaye Alley seems incredibly doubtful. I salute the effort made but can't understand the reason to blatantly lie in statements. Never ever was there 8500 people on Saturday! I know this as I was there. It was wonderfully social but there were no more than a few hundred people. At all times my group of friends and I were able to flitter through the entire crowd greeting those we knew and even those we didn't within 30mins. Again, I applaud the committee for the work done to put on the event but if they wish to achieve real success they should reconsider issuing misinformation to a public that is not stupid. On that, Mamba :- I am a loyal reader of your website and over this Pride issue over the last few months I have been very disappointed at your lack of ability to get the facts right. I never thought that you would not at least try and verify statements before quoting them on your website. This only demeans your credibility too. Instead of being a credible voice of authority, it seems that you are content to report hearsay and nonsense. Please don't be offended when I ask you to up the standards of your journalism.
