That is why we should be treating the Russians that are flocking to Cape Town in the same way and be sending them back home. We should also be saying that “‘this is our country”‘ so take your mail-order Russian brides and Russian gangsters with you. The next time I see a Russian here I will tell them that they should go back home. To say that this is just a small bunch of miscreants is nonsense. Many people in Russia hate foreigners and these are young people, the leaders of the future…what a shame Russia

To be honest I don’t think the Russian government cares. In all the videos this group posts on VK.com you can clearly see the culprits faces and not a single one of them have been prosecuted. Their ringleader has also done the talk show circuit in Russia defending their actions. What makes it worse is the fact that there are Russians who also support them. The South African government has also shown that they don’t particularly care about homophobia outside our boarders (and some would argue within our boarders as well). So I guess it is up to us to sound our outrage and not expect our government to really support us if it is not in their international political- and economic interests.

FACT: The ant-gay law has been passed in Russia. Change is not going to happen overnight,we can all go to Russia and strip naked in front of Putin,that won’t change. What is he doing with a 15 year old boy in the first place? He should be focusing on his studies. It’s not his country and the Russians seem to be making example of foreigners. Cheers to the joy of wanking!

My first thought was that the ANC administration might drag their feet with this case as a result of a recent revival in SA-Russia relations, particularity around very lucrative nuclear energy contracts.
