Many argue that the perosn's true sexuality can be determined by putting both sexes, naked, in front of the so-called bisexual candidate and asking him to spontaneously "choose" whom he responds to first. WTF?

Sexuality is not just about whether or not the person you have feelings for has a penis or a vagina. Sexuality is about whom you gravitate to and see yourself being with in the long-term. It's about feelings; much like homosexuality as well as heterosexuality.

If I have feelings for Mary whom, after 3 years of a loving relationship, leaves me suddenly and I am broken and hurt and then, after such pain and eventual growth, I meet Peter and fall inlove. What's wrong with that?

Peter is funny, articulate, sensitive and attentive to me and I think "wow, what a great human being! I could see myself being with him". Who is to say that my feelings for Mary ran "deeper" than for Peter or vice versa?

I think that gay people have chosen to be defensive when it comes to their sexuality so as to steer clear of people making judgement calls about gay being a "choice".

So they demolish any other sexuality that may they deem "threatening" to their plight. And bisexuality is such a sexuality, as is suggests that the buck doesn't stop with homosexuality; and many gays would like to believe that it does.

Agreed. Very interesting. I also dont "get it" as I am exclusively gay and love the feel of a man and all that goes with it . I believe though that to not get it but still to completely accept it without any prejusdice is what is missing in so many parts of our civilised society today. I am appalled that the world is standing by, while Nigeria, Uganda, Zimbabwe, India and Russia for example introduce daconian laws based on lies of the church/conservatives against the gay community. Thank you Canada for your stance. But the point is that the gay community itself must be very cautious in ensuring that we ourself see others different to us in the same light of inclusivity and love. I may not get drag queens or girly boys or bissexuals, but hell I better respect them as equals or else I am doing a disservice to myself and my community
Cheers

Great article Al! Too often people dismiss or rebuff bisexuality without really ever considering what that means in relation to the gay community. If we dismiss others' sexuality doesn't that make is just as bad as straight people who refuse to accept our homosexuality?
