I’m a lapsed catholic and I grew up around nuns. Of courses, some of them were really beastly but most were genuinely kind, caring, nice people who were more pre-occupied with clothing the poor, tending to the sick, sheltering the homeless etc, etc, than they were with entrenching christian dogma. Americans always seem to take religion to its right wing extreme.
