What if all the marriage officers in every branch of home affairs in PE refused? Where would gay people go? The gay friendly database is not good enough. The law needs to be amended. Your right to freedom (religious or otherwise) ends where mine begins.

On the one hand I truly feel for the couple to have experience this situation. On the other hand, if we as community “demand” respect from others, we should allow others their views, and respect their choices. So it is all good and well “that other marriage officers” will be brought in, but it also underpins the amount of work that is before us. Why not support the department in their efforts to educate and provide a save space for dialogue? To also try and understand what and why they have these views? (And to also explain how we view / feel / experiance). Could mamabaonline also report on any initiatives that try and sort this situation out? The point that the department are at the very least trying to “help” the situation is a great step in the right directions.

I wish the couple all the best, and I am sure that they will continue to experiance love.
