I would like to congratulate Cde Zakhele for representing LGBTI as an MP now as its very chalengin in our society gays are just used for their popularity but not given positions in political parties and it makes us less citezens

I’m am truly happy for Zak as a person and friend but I don’t see what the big brouhaha is about the first “openly gay black” African MP. or “openly gay black whatever”. Techically , Lynne Brown is the first openly gay black politician MP as member of the Exectutive as well as MPL, MEC and Premier too. So really, what’s with this “our first black MP” brouhaha? Besides, the ANC brought LGBTI equality and is still maintaining it despite the host of ANC-naysayers. The Department of Justice has maintained its LGBTI committee/working group and the SA goverenment are the sponsors of two pro-LGBTI UN resolutions. It’s not as if the DA and the EFF are now suddenly the champions of LGBTI rights. This comment has no reflection on Zak as I also know him as a great person. It has a reflection on the article
