It’s hard not to compare it to Brokeback Mountain; both movies share similar underlying themes and use the same plot structure. The countryside setting adds to this.

The eventual & inevitable sexual climax was poorly built up and was too sudden instead of a gradual sexual tension.

I think it’s a movie a lot of religious folk should watch and use it to reflect on how repressive belief systems can stifle authenticity.
