'While you weren't looking' is a commendable movie with mostly excellent acting, a strong script which keenly attuned to the South African context. Congratulations to Out in Africa, the writers, producers and actors for making a movie that is deserving of the acclaim it has received.
I hope that it is attracting a good audience generally, however on opening night (Friday 2 October) at Cinema Nouveau (6 pm show) in Brooklyn, a friend of mine counted only eight people, including himself. I attended the 10 am show on Tuesday (6 October) and there were only two of us watching the film. I hope that these attendance figures are not another indication of gay apathy in South Africa.
