I can relate to LGBT Catholics who have found their spirituality fulfilled by the church since a young age, and do benefit from it, despite the anti-gay dogma. It is not something that can be thrown aside lightly, despite what cold, hard logic dictates.
I think that LGBT people need to find/develop alternative spiritual practices that fulfill the same role (or supersede the role) that organized religion does.
Meditation-based practices seem a worthwhile route to consider.

I do not understand how LGBT people can identify with a religion which not only disagrees with their fundamental being, but actively speaks against it, through the dogma, doctrine and agents at the pulpit. Such organized hatred, however thinly veiled or denied by the corporation that the is Catholic church, is abundantly evident to all observers, both inside and out, and choosing to immerse oneself in such a despicable system of nonsense can only lead to hurt and disappointment by LGBT participants. Any feelings the LGBT Catholics have towards the Pope or the church's position on being gay is entirely self-inflicted and inevitable. Surely you walk into that madness with your eyes open, knowing that ultimately you will suffer for your willing participation?

Nobody needs that.
