This Pride event was simply amazing. It was incredible to see so many different races and cultures come out to celebrate. People will always look to find the negative. Those protestors are nothing but hypocrites. They stood against the very people who they should feel connected to. They roar about their exclusion and then make no attempt to join in, and then demand more rights than everyone else. What about the black/white/coloured/asian/straight/bi/trans/gay/msm people marching in the parade? They say Pride is too white so then they go and organise their own event but don't invite anyone from the community to attend. There were people marching to celebrate love, to declare their choice to the world, to mourn a fallen friend, to stand next to others who have been brave enough to face being tormented, abandoned, beaten, and raped. How can we expect the world to accept us when we can't even accept each other?

Everyone has their own reason to attend. I am proud that the city is embracing this day. Take a trip up to the rest of Africa and you'll see that the LGBT community aren't as lucky. There are too many things dividing us, but if we can learn to respect each other and love one another then we, the community, can do what so many failed to. If people want to organise their own thing then extend the invite to all. I'll attend. And if you need help, the community will pull together. Love. Peace. Unity.

"The activists have for the past three years boycotted Pride and accused organisers of catering primarily to white, privileged gay men and not reflecting the reality of life of the majority of LGBTI South Africans."

This is utter nonsense and the biggest lie ever.......there were people from all areas and race.....black, white, coloured....
No one was excluded...
Me and my husband has attended a couple of Pride marches since we've been in Cape Town, and this years Pride was by far the best of them all.........

Well as a gay white male I also feel excluded from CT Pride. Money is now the major driving factor in the event. But that is not what makes me feel excluded rather the social clique-I-ness and that venue is very far from where I live. Pride is something that comes from acceptance from both inside the subculture and from the greater community. But in CT sexuality is exploited and subtlety marginalised. Haven't been proud to be a gay man for a few years now and potentially never again where CT is involved. Let's hope that I can be once again in the future
