I find it rather ironic that what you are getting defensive over is considered to be an off shoot from the Hollywood movie industry with the actual name ‘Bollywood’ coming from & being a derivative of the Hollywood franchise & uses certain aspects from its model.
You state this industry is seen to be of cultural significance & importance which it seems needs to be protected from anyone who isn’t Indian & may want to to use the concept.
So it’s like the Egyptians saying u can’t have an Egyptian theme at a fancy dress cause it disrespects our culture having a Cleopatra dressed rather revealingly.
When in this instance in the past there have been international mainstream Hollywood & others, who’s projects were made with them taking the mickey out of the Bollywood industry movies.
I find it interesting that u would want to protect something that clearly gets its inspiration & and uses certain guidelines for its content from Hollywood, Western movie making as well as musicals & music videos.

I think the pictures of who attends will say all that needs to be said, if the fact that the organisers are going ahead with what they want to do, inspite of protest from the community does not. Mind you, these are protesters that outnumber their one token representative Lola Fine. Congratulations on being inclusive and on cross cultural relations MCQP. I’m sure the profits will salve your social conscience.

It is not up to us to decide what is offensive. It is time we as white people started listening and respecting.
MCQP was started in 1994 to celebrate the new freedoms for all those who were discriminated against. Has that been lost. This even more than any other should be sensitive and distance itself from any theme that can be deemed problematic, and this this is exactly that. Shame on you MCQP for turning your backs on your social responsibility!!

Oh dear. Why are we, as gay people, so easily offended? Would a Drag Queen Theme – also insult/offend? Come on critics – I suggest you rather see the spirit of the event – see the glamour and the colour. Can we as gay people PLEASE for once be together as GAY – and not be so sensitive. Humanity BEYOND Identity. Congratulations to the organisers for coming up with a fabulous festive theme. (Or should we all just be safely PC an no longer have ANY themes at parties? Love and Peace to all.
